The beginning of our fellowship can be traced to the latter part of 1897. The old
Cherokee schoolhouse was the first house of worship. Officially the church completed
its organization at 4:00 PM on August 19th 1898 and carried the name GROVE
SPRINGS BAPTIST CHURCH throughout the Indian Territory days, after which the
Springs was dropped. The church held their meetings in this little schoolhouse until it
burned to the ground. After that they moved into the Methodist Church. It was here
that they decided to build. The first member to join was Mr. A.M. Collins in 1898.
